Tech Lunch South/GangPlank Book Club

published 7/22/2010 10:26:43 AM by Chris Coneybeer

Join us for the GangPlank / TechLunchSouth book club.

Couple of months ago our friends at GangPlank started the GangPlank Academy Book Club for the community to help in challenging everybody’s minds. This book club has been focused on non-technical books and has been received very well.

But you say that you want to read technical books? And then you want to talk about them? Well we got the solution for you. Tech Lunch South will be host to the technology extension of the GangPlank Book Club. Starting July 27th,  each week will be dedicating a portion of our lunch time to discussing the book as group.

The goal of this group is to cover titles that are as technology agnostic as possible. So we will be reading books that cover development methods or technologies that can be used in several stacks. This will allow the group to cover books that can be helpful for all in attendance and we hope it will increase participation.

So we invite you to join us as we work to expand our mind and belly!

The first book that we are reading is “Extreme Programming Explained: Embrace Change, Second Edition” by Kent Beck. You can also pickup this book at Safari Books Online if you have a subscription.

Check out the Tech Lunch South postings to get more information what chapters will be covered during which days. The July 27th meeting we will be covering chapters 1-9 (don’t worry it is only the first 54 pages of the book).
